Extra iPhone power on the go

Extra iPhone power on the go
If you''re lucky enough to have an iPhone, you may have some issue with power (ehm . . . don''t we all). Fast approaching to the market is a sophisticated power pack called The mophie Juice Pack. I predict that this will be a handy piece of gear that will be fast-adopted by the iPhone elite (sense my envy?).

The mophie Juice Pack comes fully pre-charged and ready to go straight out of the box. Simply plug in your iPhone to the fully pre-charged Juice Pack and double the time you spend rocking, talking, surfing and sending!

Major mophie Juice Pack Features:

Smart Power Management System
Your iPhone Adaptor or any iPod connector can be used to charge the Juice Pack without your iPhone or with your iPhone simultaneously.

Smart Battery Technology
Instructs the iPhone to always drain out the Juice Pack first. Simply detach the Juice Pack when you''re finished, and you still have a fully charged iPhone.

Powerful and Safe Battery Cell
The Juice Pack utilizes a safe, advanced rechargeable lithium-polymer battery cell. There is a built-in circuit to prevent the Juice Pack from shorting, overcharging, and behaving badly under extreme weather conditions.

4 Light LED Battery Status Indicator
There are 4 light LEDs on the back of the Juice Pack. Simply press the test button and it will tell you how much power is left with the Juice Pack. The LED lights also indicate the charging status and the charging progress.

(Available for pre-order)

Price: $99.95 at Morphie.com.

The Nokia 6708 is the Worst Phone I've Ever Used

The Nokia 6708 is the Worst Phone I've Ever Used

Cellphone9 asks "What's the worst phone you've ever used?" The Nokia 6708 was definitely the worst phone I've ever used. While this smartphone was one of Nokia's few attempts to utilize the versatile UIQ interface, the battery drained too quickly, the camera wasn't worth mentioning, and the speakers were too soft to be useful.

But perhaps the greatest sins of the 6708 were that its keypad only let you input numbers and that there were no navigation keys. Operating the Nokia 6708 was reliant on the stylus and the touch-screen. This meant that, unfortunately, even simple procedures such as selecting menu options and typing text required two hands!

Worse, it sometimes took forever for the 6708 to respond to keypresses. That alone killed the phone for me, as I value responsiveness above anything else.

Boarding Passes for the Cellular Phone

Boarding Passes for the Cellular Phone
It really amazes me that in order to board a plane, I have to have a paper ticket. Come on, this is the digital age, and we need to be saving trees. Can't I just get some confirmation on my cellular phone or something?

Well, this is exactly what Continental Airlines is experimenting with. There are scanning devices at Houston's Intercontinental Airport which pick up a digital boarding pass that can be stored on a cellular phone. As of now, this is only a three month trial program, but I can so see this catching on.

The only problem is: what if your battery runs out? That might be kind of awkward. Better carry a paper copy just in case. Oh wait, weren't we trying to prevent that?

The MoGo Dapter is a Bluetooth Dongle

The MoGo Dapter is a Bluetooth Dongle
It's amazing how small things are getting. Bluetooth dongles are already compact to begin with, but along comes MoGo with its Dapter. The finger-nail sized Bluetooth Adapter is hilariously tiny, because the actual unit almost takes up less space than its own USB plug! And it doesn't sacrifice capability for diminutiveness. The MoGo Dapter maximizes Bluetooth and USB, both running on their respective 2.0 versions.

And it solves a relatively age-old problem. As Darla Mack says, "I'm afraid of my BT dongle....because it just sticks out screaming for someone to bang into it." With its curved profile and minimal size, such a difficulty simply doesn't exist for the MoGo Dapter. Meaning you can rest easy while transferring data between your computer and smartphone or PDA via Bluetooth.

BMW Is iPhone Compatible

BMW Is iPhone Compatible

Kudos to the team at the Blue Roundel for catching onto a hot thing- before anyone else had a clue. Chalk it up to all those free thinking ideas the company's been touting in recent U.S. TV commercials.

BMW is set on making sure that its entire (North American) lineup is iPhone compatible just as the company has been keen on being iPod friendly. Indeed, BMW claims to be the first carmaker to become iPod compatible back in 2004.

To get the details on which models are or will be iPhone compliant,

Solar powered Bluetooth headset

Solar powered Bluetooth headset
I never remember to charge my Bluetooth headset, which is bad because I drive around Washington, DC a lot, where it''s illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving, unless you''re using it hands-free. The Sun Bluetooth headset by Igua is the first solar-powered headset on the market. Fully charged, it provides in darkness 9 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time, and in indirect sunlight 12 hours of talk time. It also comes with a USB charging cable. So long as it stays in my ear, it seems like a very simple solution to me, especially for travel.

Priced around $90 to $100 from U.S. merchants such as BetterBuyElectronics and DS Miller (though seems to be mostly sold out or on backorder at online shops).

The superhero of iPod and iPhone cases

The superhero of iPod and iPhone cases
This new line of Defender cases from Otterbox could easily go to Iraq -- or just to the office. With 3 layers of protection in a rugged package, these iPod and iPhone cases protect from dust, dirt and drops in a thin yet protective design. (The iPhone case accommodates both 4 GB and 8 GB Apple iPhones.) Prices for the Defender series range from $29.95 for the iPod touch to $49.95 for the iPhone

Great for sports fanatics or husbands who drop their iPods, the site claims you can drop it without worrying. I''m going to take their word for it. Since all surfaces of the device are covered, including the touchscreen, it can stand a little precipitation as well. (The thin membrane covering the touchscreen takes just a little getting used to, I''ve found.)

But if you really want waterproof, go for the Armor series. This rugged line of interactive cases safeguards from rain, dust, dirt, drops and other mishaps so you can take your technology everywhere. These cases are water-proof up to depths of 3 meters; just remember to get the waterproof earphones (such as the H20s). Prices range from $39.95 for the iPod nano (3rd Gen) to $69.95 for the Armor iPhone case.

Available for the klutz in your life from Otterbox and Amazon.

infoSync World reviews the Sidekick Slide. “We snap up T-Mobile’s new Sidekick Slide, which slims down and loses the flip for a slider form. Did Motorola’s first Sidekick delight our fingers, or is it back to the drawing board?”
