First aid kit for mobile phones

First aid kit for mobile phones

I have first aid kits everywhere -- in my purse, in my car, in my suitcase. What's missing is emergency health information. Now, I can get that on my cell phone thanks to a partnership between the Mayo Clinic and Digital Cyclone (a subsidiary of Garmin), which developed Mayo Clinic in Touch, an application for your cell phone that delivers health alerts, first aid tips, a symptom checker, and -- most importantly for me -- the location of the nearest emergency room via GPS. The service costs $2.99 per month, which I think is a small price to pay to make me a less paranoid traveler. It's available on Verizon and Sprint phones, and scheduled to be released soon for Cingular and Alltel phones.

Plenty of information for recreational hypochondriacs too. Take a look at the YouTube demo video after the jump.
